RAVEN's NARRATION

  Flop. Flop. Flop.

  The continuous drop of gas from a tube down to a little container beneath my spot is the only thing that could be heard within my range excluding the fast pace of my
typing on the only laptop I have here connected with some gadgets resting on this coaled large tube, I call it. This place is pretty stinky but I think I could bear it for the sake of silence that I needed and the lost of presence of the clot opponents I had when I was at my previous spot which is the main functioning hall of this illegal drugs semi-factory and laboratory.

  Obtaining IP Address...

  Connected.

  I secretly grinned seeing what my screen flashed. Easy breaching in the factory's security, eh? Nang ma-i-connect ko na ang signal ng transmitter na ikinabit ni Kayden sa mismong main computer ng factory sa laptop ko ay naging madali nalang para sa akin na galawin ang sistema. That transmitter was a virus used against the factory's system while it works as a panacea for my team.

  Inalis ko ang hood ng suot kong jacket at mas inilapit ang sarili sa laptop. I opened the command prompt, typed a command and click the enter. Hinintay kong matapos ang 'Loading' bago tuluyang magpop up ang iba't ibang files. Now, what I have to do is to find the device which was used to send a command to a satellite. Mansions of first 13 members of Black Organization would explode tonight if we wouldn't be able to cancel the command which can be only cancelled through the device used to send it--the one I am currently looking for.

  There were a lot of files, mostly about different drugs. Well, that's not questionable since this factory's about illegal drugs research. This seems like a laboratory though. Kumuha ako ng isa sa mga lollipop sa bulsa ko saka ito binuksan at inilagay sa bibig ko. Emerald gave this to me earlier.

  Damn, I don't understand a thing! It seems like the whole system is in Scientific fucking language. Tss. Dahil sa main computer ikinabit ang transmitter, natural lang na lahat-lahat ng files ng buong lugar ay maikacopy papunta sa device ko, kung saan naka-signal ang transmitter na ikinnonect sa main computer. I have to proceed to the process of elimination. Kinuha ko ang maliit na internet protocol device na nakakabit sa USB port ng laptop saka ito chineck. Base sa pag ikot nito, as if a loading process, masasabi kong may higit sa 34 systems ang nakacompile sa pangkalahatang sistema ng lugar. Too many, too many, too many!

  Kinclear ko ang lahat ng tabs which apparently are the systems saka ni-reboot ang laptop ko. Sumandal ako sa maduming tube at hinawakan ang hawakan ng lollipop na nasa bibig ko habang hinihintay matapos ang pagrireboot. Never did I think I'd love lollipops.

  Beep. Beep. Beep.

  I hurriedly lean onto the beepers I had connected to my still rebooting laptop when it suddenly started beeping. The screen flashed and it let me know that it's scanning my current range, about 50 meters. Umiikot ang scanner ng beeper at unti-unti kong nakita ang tatlong red dots na papalapit sa pinakagitna ng scanner--which is my location. There are people inside my range, goddammit!

  Mabilis kong pinatay ang beeper saka isa-isang binulsa ang anumang devices na naka-connect sa laptop. This is why I brought this large orange hood of mine. Very useful when, uh, running away with my stuffs in a mission. Nang hindi ina-unconnect ang anuman sa mga gadgets sa laptop ay binuhat ko na ang mga ito. Some of the excess gadgets that couldn't be put in my pockets anymore where put just above my keyboard. Oh, my keyboard. My poor keyboard, magagasgasan na naman. Tsk.

  Tiningnan ko ang kinatatayuan ko at ang taas nito sa ibabang palapag. Well, I'm at the very back of this factory so it's pretty disorganized here. Alam kong kaya kong talunin ang taas. The problem is, my stuffs might bounce. Agh, dammit.

  Bahala na. I jumped off the tube while holding my stuffs as tight as I can. Eksaktong pagbagsak ko ay narinig ko na ang mabibilis na yapak ng mga tumatakbong paparating. I'm sure none of them is from my team. If they were them, it wouldn't have been red dots but green.

  "Oh, shit." The only thing I was able to mutter when I saw the beeper fall onto the muddy cold cement, broken. Great.

  Napalingon ako sa itaas nang marinig ang paghinto ng yapak ng mga tumatakbo. Tinutok nila sa akin ang baril at walang pagdadalawang isip na pinaputukan ako. I had no choice but to ran from the bullets and hide behind a large broken muddy aircon. Pa'no nila nagagawang walang-awang paputukan ang isang taong hirap magbitbit ng mga gamit?

  Napatingin ako sa hawak kong laptop nang matapos ang pagrireboot. That was long. I clicked F2 and entered the BIOS. Now, let's change something here. Pumunta ako sa pangalawang column at sinet na default storage sa gagawin kong transmitting ang isa sa mga device na naka-connect sa laptop ko.

  Napalingon ako sa kanan ko nang maramdaman ang presensya ng tatlong parating. Seems like I have no choice but to deal with trouble. Kinuha ko ang hawak baril sa likuran ko at humakbang ng dalawa paatras para makita ang posisyon ng tatlo. I fired the gun, aiming for the one nearest to me. He fell onto the ground upon receiving my bullet. That caught the other two's attention. Mabilis akong bumalik sa pinagtataguan ko nang magpaputok sila't makitang patakbo na sila sa direksyon ko.

  I estimated 30 seconds before their arrival. Mabilis at nagmamadali kong pinuntahan ang configuration section ng main settings. Opened a command prompt there and started a scan of the devices recently used for the last two weeks. Nang lumabas ang automatically scrolling tab ng command prompt, sakto sa estimation ko ay nakarating na sa pwesto ko ang dalawa pa sa humahabol sa akin.

  One high kick and the one I hit fell. Napalingon sa direksyon ko ang kasama nyang lalaki saka ako pinaputukan. Oh, damn! Umikot ako para iiwas ang hawak kong laptop. Dahilan naman 'yon para makasuntok sa mukha ko yung sinipa kong nakatayo agad kaya tumilapon ang lollipop na nasa bibig ko. Badtrip. Kinuha ko ang baril ko at balak sana syang paputukan nang paputukan naman nung isa yung hawak kong baril dahilan para tumilapon ito. I'm doomed. Nakatutok sa akin ang baril at wala akong hawak kaya wala akong magawa. There were two of them, both armed.

  Itinututok sa akin yung baril ng sinipa ko kanina ay nagsalita sya. "Give us the laptop."

  I looked around the area. What area is this again? Pumikit ako ng dalawang segundo at inalala kung anong codename ang ibinigay dito during the meeting. Because I know that'll help.

  "N11°15'W. Routine A-4D." Mabilis kong sabi pagkadilat na pagkadilat.

  [Alright] Kayden's quick response.

  Bago pa makapagreact ang dalawang kasama ko ay na-detonate na ni Lerwick ang mga bomba na itinanim nya sa Routine 45. That made the other two guys to look for the explosion. Catching them off guard, I made another high kick while still holdinv my laptop to the one nearer to me. Dahil sa gulat ay tumilapon ang hawak nyang baril na agad ko namang nasalo gamit ang isa kong kamay. Without second thoughts, I fired the gun to the other one who afterwards immediately fall dead. Hindi ko na rin pinagsalita ang huli kong sinipa at rektang pinaputukan nalang sya.

  [Raven, have you find the device used?] Suddenly, I heard Katana's voice. She's the leader of our team for this mission given the codename 4GV001.

  That made me look at my laptop. Tapos na ang pag-iiscan at tanging walo lang ang recently used na devices sa loob ng buong factory. The information that didn't line up with this were immediately stored onto the device connected on this.

  Nagsimula akong maglakad at pinulot ang ilan sa mga nalaglag kong gamit at baril. "Not yet. But I'm going down to 8 devices." I replied.

  Black Organization splitted into four teams tonight for four different attacks of the same organization who aim our disappearance in underground society. Each team was composed of three members. Except ours. We have a total number of four. Katana served as the leader for her analytical well-calculated strategies.

  [Kayden. Your status?] Katana.

  Our sole mission is to cancel a command that had been sent into a satellite two weeks ago. As I've mentioned earlier, the command wouldn't be canceled unless the cancellation would be from the device used to send it. The command's all about explosions of our mansions. And since it's all about technology and explosion, Kayden and I were assigned in the same group.

  [Completion : 87% Location, 45°] Lerwick replied, who for the moment is clearing our way out.

  [Cover East and I then] Katana replied. East is the codename for Emerald tonight. The last member of this team. She's a gun expertise and therefore, would be of help to us as well in terms of attack and defense. Earlier when I checked, Katana and Emerald's together, aiming for the person who sent the command.

  I heard explosions from the other line after that. The three of them are still inside the factory. Well, technically speaking, I am still inside the factory as well. It's just that, nasa pinakadulo ako. Though dahil sa pagtalon ko kanina, I think I'm at the very end of the tunnel beneath the factory. Sitting on this cold muddy cement with all my necessary stuffs.

  Worrying for their current blocks, I decided to leave the scanning for a while and check the tab for CCTV footages inside. I got the whole security in my hands, CCTV is the least thing hardest to hack with that. There were a lot of screens but since I have a pretty idea of where and what they're doing since there was an earlier update, madali ko namang nahanap ang lokasyon ng tatlo.

  Miniminimize ko ang screen sa tatlong grid. Yung kay Emerald, kay Lerwick at kay Katana. Emerald's dealing with three agents in a short-range combat. They were in a hallway. Emerald's superior though. Seems like she was able to shoot the other four. Meanwhile, Katana's still on the middle of the main functioning hall. I watch her from a bird's eye view. Since the main hall's almost pure white and Katana's in an agent outfit, I could see her clearly. She was behind a cabinet shooting a bunch of armed men running after her. A few moments after, there was an explosion between them, giving Katana enough time to run away from her predators' vision. Huli kong tinignan si Lerwick. Nakalambitin ang mokong sa ceiling ng isa sa Western exit ng hall, nagkakabit ng demolition charges. A few moments after, umayos sya ng upo sa pinaglalambitinan nya at may kinuhang kung ano sa vest nya. Nagpress ng kung anu-ano sa hawak nyang device at ilang saglit lang, nagsimula nang magblink yung ilaw ng kinabit nya. That's when he jumped off the ceiling.

  And since I knew they're alright and there's nothing I have to do regarding their situation, ibinalik ko na ang tab sa walong devices na natira. I clicked the first device on the list, opened a command prompt, typed a command and a few seconds later, finlash na sa screen ang history. I checked the options and filtered the history into the commands sent to the satellite. Nagkaroon na naman ng loading, pagfifilter ng history. Ilang saglit lang ay natapos din at isang 'No command sent to satellite'. Well then, hindi ito ang device na ginamit. I did the same thing for the remaining devices until I found the right one.

  One victorious grin formed on my lips. Mabilis kong chineck ang type ng device at based sa number nito ay sigurado akong laptop. I opened another command prompt, typed a command and minimized it. Nagright click ako at chineck ang source ng device. Another tab opened. Binuksan ko naman agad at pumunta sa search engine na nasa baba. In its programming language, sinearch ko naman ang '1-A2'. The numbers scrolled on its own until it highlighted the exact context I searched. Voila, internet protocol found.

  "Got it! I got the device now!" Excitement evident in my voice, I announced. "The command was sent to the satellite through a freaking laptop! Discovered its IP Address and such. I'm currently tracking it down. Just a minute." I added. Kinuha ko sa bulsa ko ang pangalawa kong beeper at yung hard disk. Nagright click ako at chineck ang elements. Kinonnect ko ang beeper at nagtype ng command. A few seconds after and the beeper scanned its range, looking for the IP Address in this area. My jaw dropped when the scanning stopped and a blueprint flashed on my screen, showing me the location of the beeper and the laptop. "And damn, it's in the tunnel with me." Sabi ko habang hindi makapaniwalang tinititigan ang blue dot na nakaflash ngayon sa harap ko.

  [Wait, what?] Lerwick. [You were in the tunnel all along? While we have our lives on the line?]

  [Yeah. That wasn't your assigned block] Katana.

  [Diba sa plano po, nasa hall ka din? To make sure na everyone's security is alright?] Lastly, Emerald. Uh-oh.

  "Alright, alright---" Hindi ko pa natatapos ang excuse ko ay nagsalita na naman si Lerwick.

  [I planted bombs in the tunnel as well. Mind to tell me your exact location?]

  Man, you've gotta be kidding me. Ginulo ko ang sarili kong buhok. "Damn, I was there, okay?!" So, why am I feeling guilty?! "Talagang madali lang akong makita sa pwesto ko. Too much of nuisance so I went down here. Besides, I had CCTVs to check on you, guys." Kanina nga lang, may nakakita na sa akin eh.

  [Yeah but that doesn't change the fact that you left your block] Should I expect myself to be shot by Katana later?

  [And you didn't inform us pa po] Emerald added. Parang gusto kong itaas ang dalawa kong kamay para sabihing surrender na ako.

  Hindi ako sumagot at mas niliitan ang scanning area ng beeper hanggang sa ma-track down ang eksaktong lokasyon. But there was something wrong. Its location couldn't be specifically tracked because...

  "Let's chill out. And that isn't our problem. The laptop, it's moving. It's freaking moving." Sagot ko. Inopen ko ang command prompt at tinype ang lahat ng command ng nagmamadali. I can't afford to lose my hands on the laptop.

  [Po?!] Gulat na sabi ni Emerald.

  [We must assume that the laptop is in the hands of the one who sent the command] Kayden's right. It's moving so there must be a handler.

  [Track all of us, Raven. Check our distances from that shit] Katana's command.

  Pinindot ko ang beeper para i-recheck kung nasaan na ang laptop. "Ah, yeah, I'm on it." Sagot ko saka ibinalik ang tingin sa laptop.

  Magsisimula na sana ulit ako sa pagtype nang biglang may mga tabs na sunud-sunod na magpop up. What the heck?! I'm the one handling the whole system so who this might be? No, no. Umiling ako. I can't be the only one. I don't remember doing this command so..

  "DAMN!" I almost jump out of surprise nang magsimulang bumagsak ang mga steel sa paligid ko, blocking all the possible exits except one. These are all managed by commands through security system in laptops. And since I wasn't the one who made those fall, I was left no conclusion but... "Someone else has his hands onto the security. It's not just me anymore."

  Calm down, Raven. Huminga ako ng malalim. I shouldn't let this thought affect my focus. Nang idilat ko ang mga mata ay sinubukan kong i-block ang mga tabs na nagpapop up sa screen ko. I raise into the highest level possible ang concrete state ng firewall ko saka ko sinimulang i-track ang mga kasama ko. I can locate them by their earpiece devices.

  [I was locked down] Kayden's update.

  [Three quadrate steels blocking three exits?] Katana added. I therefore presume the same thing happened to the three of them.

  Biglang napaangat ang tingin ko nang parang domino na nagsimulang mamamatay ang mapusyaw na ilaw galing sa mga lumang bumbilya sa paligid ko. Shit. Do the other team know where are we?

  [Yeppy-yeps. Me too. At nawalan na din po ako ng kuryente] Emerald, lastly. So, the breakdown is for the whole tunnel.

  [I assume the laptop we're looking for was the one used to lock us down here] Kayden's right. Imposibleng ako. Why would I do something that would be object of disadvantage to us?

  [The command sender] Emerald and Katana's hunch in unison. Most probably. He has the laptop anyways.

  Napabuga ako ng hangin at napasandal sa kinauupuan ko nang matapos ang pagtitrace ko sa aming apat. Malinaw na nakaflash sa screen ang apat na green dots at isang blue dot. "They're here with us." Kinuha ko ang baril ko at ikinasa. "And how lucky can we be? Our target is in the center of our field." I added.

  [What do you mean po ba, North?] Asked Emerald, calling me by my tonight's codename.

  "Imagine the tunnel to be a cross. South is in the south. East in the east. West in the west. And I in the north." Pagpapaliwanag ko saka ako tumayo habang pinupunasan ang hawak kong baril. "We are technically surrounding our target. And it seems like they weren't aware of it."

  Which is why they still keep moving towards my direction. Mukhang dahil ako ang nasa dulo ng tunnel, ako ang makakasalubong nila. This way is their way out. And with the other three coming, entrapment is very easy.

  [We should all go ahead then. Plan Virbitre. You too, North. Leave your gadgets for a while. We have a prey right under our nose] Said Katana. Our plans were given different codenames and of course, Virbitre is familiar to all of us. Little did they know, I would really have to.

  Sinulyapan ko ang laptop kong nasa sahig at nakitang gumagalaw na yung tatlo papunta sa target na papunta naman sa akin. "One more thing---" My laptop must be paid if ever it would get broken. Before I could even finish my sentence, naggaralgal na ang linya. Tss, they blocked the signal. Tsk.

  Iginilid ko nalang ang laptop saka nagsimula na ring maglakad-sasalubungin ang mga paparating habang hawak ng dalawang kamay ang baril.

  "God, I hate legwork." The only thing I murmured.
