KATANA's NARRATION

  The blinking red lights everywhere paired with inevitable beeping that could be heard in every single corner of this illegal drug semi-factory alarms everyone whether in laboratory gowns or nurse-like blue uniforms. Armed men who were in sort of military outfit were
running alongside the workers, but not to ran from its vicinity like the latter but to find us--the intruders.

  I loaded my handgun while looking down, merely staring at the marvelous escapade of everyone below. My position on this ceiling gives me a good view to every single thing that happens on the main functioning hall of this white place.

  [Yeees! Second step na tayoooo! I can play with these guards na!] I heard Emerald's lively voice from the receiver on my ear. Nasa kabilang side siya nitong ceiling kung saan ako nakapwesto. We were both in-charged of surveillance. Siya kay Kayden at ako sa lahat ng nangyayari.

  I couldn't help but grin. "Time for the angels to be fallen." With that, I jumped down to the floor. And yeah, I was referring to myself. And Emerald in this case perhaps.

  [And my turn to know which device was used to send the goddamn command to the satellite by the use of the access the transmitter gave me] Raven and his typings followed.

  Our mission is to cancel a command sent to a satellite a few weeks ago. A command that would lead to the explosion of Black Organization's families' mansions if not obviated. And we are the team that had been assigned into it. The only one among the four splitted groups of Black Organization that composed of four members. To complete the team with the said number, the last member is...

  [The game. Is on] Kayden.

  We are talking about bombs and computers. Of course, Kayden and Raven would be in the same team. Kayden was the one assigned to disguise as one of the workers solely to connect the transmitter to the main computer of this factory. And that transmitter was what Raven needed to hack the security of the place. Also to accomplish our team's mission.

  Dahil tulad ng mga men-in-black ang suot ko, hindi ako gaanong pansinin nang tumakbo ako kasabay nila. How foolish. This is why Black Organization keep each division's members' number small. Dahil hindi na napaprioritize ang mukha ng members. And so, everyone rely on uniform. If you're wearing the same uniform then you're considered as one of them.

  Nang dumating sa isang parte ng hall kung saan may hallway pakanan, humiwalay na ako sa grupo at lumiko sa nasabing hallway, ang daan papunta sa head doctor ng factory'ng 'to. It was a long narrow silent hallway with a two-door entrance at the end. Nang marating ang pintuan, inihanda ko na ang dalawang baril na hawak ko saka sinipa ng malakas ang pinto dahilan para bumukas ito.

  The expected number and formation of guards welcomed me. Alright, two masculine guy at the end, probably armed with bullet-proof vests, three lined up in the right side and three more in the left side. Walang sabi-sabing pinaputukan ko agad ang dalawang naunang lumingon. Poof, bull's eye.

  Nang malaman nila ang pakay ng presensya ko, sabay-sabay silang bumunot ng baril saka ako pinaputukan. I smirked, as if saying those would be useless against me. I ran towards them while shooting another two and making swift moves to avoid the coming bullets. Perfect, I'd say my father is a good trainor. Judging by my current pace.

  Kinalabit ko ang gatilyo saka yumuko. I was stopped amidst running when the next shot was fired right before my feet. Sinundan ko ang pinanggalingan ng bala at mabilis akong umikot nang makitang may panibago patungo sa akin. When I turned to them, pinaputukan ko ang bumaril. Isa, dalawang beses. I continued my run. However, one thing that I wasn't able to calculated was the next bullets of the masculine guy at the end. He fired. I calculated his bullets to be aiming for me but no, the bullets were for my guns.

  Napahinto na ako sa pagtakbo nang sabay na tumalsik ang dalawang baril na hawak ko. I gave the masculine guy, the one who fired, a deadly glare. You're a dead meat. I dismissed the thought of loss of weapons in my hands and decided to rely on the pins I have on my hair. I threw it to them which made them dodge it, giving me milliseconds to form a blazing run on running to them. There were only four more. And I have no choice but to deal with them in short-range combat.

  In a matter of seconds, narating ko ang puwesto ng pinakamalapit na lalaki sa akin. Since he was caught-off guard of my sudden approach, I was able to kick his gun away. Taking advantage of his astonishment, I gave him a blow on his stomach and one last powerful kick on his chest that made him fall onto the ground. To make sure he's be no more of nuisance, kinuha ko ang isang pin sa ulo ko at itinapon iyon sa leeg nya.

  Then I turned to the other one who ran to me. Because of a shortage in my calculation of time between my turn and his attack, I received a punch on my stomach, making me wince. Humampas ang likod ko sa pader at sumugod ang dalawa pang lalaki, they probably realized I could go to them in no time so they might as well deal with me in my way.

  Nang makapasok sa kalkuladong range ang dalawang lalaking pasugod, tumalon ako at sabay silang binigyan ng sipa. They didn't dodge it. They fall onto the second category of their possible reactions I had my mind--sinalo nila ang paa ko. That's when I twisted my body, bringing them to the ground by my forceful feet that they were still holding.

  Sabay-sabay kaming bumagsak sa sahig, only I was prepared. Mabilis akong gumulong para iwasan ang paparating na bala at kunin ang isa sa mga baril na nalaglag ng mga guard. I quickly fired the gun, causing the insides of the masculine guy's head to splatter on the cold tiles. That's what you get for shooting me earlier.

  Nang mabaril iyon ay binalingan ko naman ang dalawang nakatayo na matapos kong ibagsak kanina. They had their guns pointed on me while I only have one, shifting my aim from one to another. Damn, am I trapped? The other one's in my left and the other one's in my right. Sinulyapan ko ang layo ng dalawa sa akin. And when I knew that the one in my right is within my short-range combat, mabilis akong yumuko at sinipa ang baril nito. Kasabay ng pagyuko ay ang pagbaril naman sa nasa kaliwa. Nang tumilapon ang baril ng nasa kanan ay hindi ko na hinintay na umatake sya at pinaputukan na.

  "Phew." Pinunasan ko ang sariling noo saka tiningnan ang mga nakahandusay na katawan sa hallway. I looked for my guns I dropped earlier. When I saw it, a glimpse of a familiar sword hanging unto the wall caught my attention. My lips curved into a smile. I missed having swords. Let's forget my brothers and remember my name. I went to the japanese sword and took it, scanned it. A Katana. Perfect.

  Dala ang espada ay tinahak ko na ang daan papunta sa dulo ng hallway. "Update, Raven? Haven't you find the device yet?" Tanong ko kay Raven na alam kong madidinig ako sa kabilang linya. He had Kayden connect the transmitter and he got to breach into the security. He should be able to find the device used to send the fucking command onto the satellite. We have to obviate that before its scheduled explosion tonight.

  [Uh. I'm still looking for it. There are so many information flashed here that I have no knowledge of! Masyadong maraming files tungkol sa drugs at nakakagulo 'yon sa paghahanap ko] He answered.

  [We have an hour left nalang] Emerald announced. Like me, her following task is to find the other person responsible for the command.

  [Everything's getting set] Kayden, on the other hand, after his necessary disguise prior to the transmitter's connection, is assigned to clear our way when we break out of this factory after we accomplish our mission.

  Nang marating ang dulong pinto, dahan-dahan kong pinihit ang knob. Isang tahimik na opisina ang bumungad sa akin. A grey lifeless soundproof office with nobody. Or so I thought. Dahil naramdaman ko ang bunganga ng baril sa likod ng ulo ko pagpasok na pagpasok ko sa loob. The thing is, it wasn't only a gun but also a knife on my waist.

  "See? I'm prepared. And I am not underestimating the daughter of Ezekiel Roswell." I heard the man's voice, probably on its 40's. Same with Dad. "Drop your guns."

  Itinaas ko ang dalawa kong kamay pagkatapos ibagsak ang hawak kong espada saka niya ako iginiya papunta sa swivel chair ng mesa. I had no choice but to follow as he says.

  [North, South and West, we should proceed na to Ivyrial. South's right. Iisa ang head doctor at command sender sa satellite] Emerald's update, calling us by our codenames for tonight and saying we should proceed to the plan given the codename 'Ivyrial'.

  We were both aiming for two significant profile. Her for the command sender and I for the head doctor. However, based on her update, I reckon that she must have arrived to her destination and found her target not there. Which leads us to the following probable calculation--the head doctor and the command sender were the same person.

  "Doctor Flavio Valdemor, I presume?" Tanong ko pagkaupo sa swivel chair nang hindi nililingon ang matandang madiin ang tutok ng baril sa ulo ko.

  "The one and only head of the research regarding the injectants that half of the primera linia of Black Organization were foolishly injected with, Miss Katana Roswell."

  That was related to third team's mission--to find the theriaca of the injectants that have been injected to the seven among thirteen members of Black Organization's Primera Linia, us.

  "Also the one responsible for the command sent to the satellite mainly to lead the family mansions of thirteen members of Black Organization's Primera Linia into explosion." Dugtong ko, based on Emerald's update and the Plan Ivyrial.

  Matunog siyang ngumisi. "Mukhang kailangan kong tipunin ang aking mga tauhan upang hanapin ang traydor na kinuhanan n'yo ng impormasyon."

  [South. I'm in routine 2B na] I wanted to smirk upon hearing Emerald, calling me by my codename South. Routine 2B is the hallway just outside this office. Of course, she's still going to aim for her target. Even if it means we're gonna be aiming for one person.

  "I'm afraid you would no longer be able to do that." Vanity evident in my voice, I replied.

  "And why?"

  "I don't know?" Almost smirking, I said. "Or precisely because of S78°45'E?" Saktong pagkasabi ko ng huling linya ay isang malakas na sipa ang nagbukas sa malaking pintuan ng opisina.

  Probably according to Dr. Valdemor's calculation, without any sign of hesitance, pinaputukan niya ang sinumang pumasok saka mabilis na iwinasiwas ang hawak na patalim sa tagiliran ko. Too bad, that move of his was within my calculation as well. However, I was barely able to dodge that. Close call, I call it.

  Tinalon ko ang lamesang namamagitan sa akin at kay Emerald. That was also the moment the Doctor swung his dagger which I was barely able to dodge. Nang makatalon ay pumwesto ako ilang dipa di kalayuan kay Emerald. She glanced at me and threw me the sword I intentionally dropped earlier.

  "The tables have turned, don't you think?" Tanong ko sa Doctor na siya namang papalit-palit sa amin ni Emerald ang tutok ng baril.

  [Proceed to Plan Victoria. We were tricked. The head doctor and the command sender weren't the same person based on my sensory bombs] I suddenly heard Kayden's voice in the other line. What? Nagkatinginan kami ni Emerald dahil sa sinabi ni Kayden. [He had escaped before East's arrival in South's perimeter] He added. Reffering to Emerald as East and to me as South, codenames.

  Binalik ko ang tingin kay Dr. Valdemor. "Who sent the command?"

  He looked surprise upon realizing I knew he wasn't the command sender. "I don't know."

  "I do torture, just so you know." Hinawakan ko ng dalawang kamay ang hawak kong espada. "Who. Is. It?"

  "I. Don't. Know." Matigas niyang sagot.

  "South, we're running out of time na."

  I gave Emerald a quick look which she automatically understand the meaning. Pinaputukan niya ang hawak na baril ni Dr. Valdemor. Bago tuluyang mabitawan ng doktor ay nagawa pa nya itong paputukin sa direksyon ko. I ducked to swerve and attacked him with a sword. He dodged and threw me his dagger. I moved around a central point and the moment I turned to him, I swung my sword towards him, cutting his right arm off. He screamed and the blood splashed on the wall simultaneously.

  "A splendid decoration, don't you think?" Looking at the wall that have been decorated by the splash of his blood, I muttered. Nilingon ko sya at nakitang lumuluhod na sya sa sakit habang tila nauubusan na ng sigaw. Messy view. "With all due respect to human in general, I would end your agony regardfully." One more swung on his chest and he ran out of breathe. Better, no chopped bodies here.

  I turned to Emerald and we exchanged quick nods before we ran to leave the head doctor's office. Hinawakan ko ang earpiece device na nasa tenga ko saka nagsalita habang tumatakbo.

  "Raven, have you find the device used?" Isinabit ko ang Katana sa likuran ko.

  [Not yet. But I'm going down to 8 devices]

  "Kayden. Your status?" I would be needing guns so I picked up the ones I dropped on the hallway.

  [Completion : 87% Location, 45°]

  "Cover us then." Sagot ko saka sinipa ang huling pinto palabas ng hallway na pinanggalingan namin ni Emerald.

  The chaotic laboratory was what we have met beyond the door together with the still ringing alarms and the blinking red lights around. Mukhang maraming sumabog at marami na ding nakahandusay sa mga armed men. Whose doing is that? Kasabay ng paglabas namin ay ang sunod-sunod na pagpapaputok ng baril sa direksyon namin. A few seconds after and smoke suddenly filled the space between the armed men and us, probably Kayden's. That was our chance to split up. Tumakbo ako sa kanan at tumakbo si Emerald sa kaliwa.

  Hindi rin naman nagtagal ay nawala na ang usok. But Emerald and I were already far from the largest group of armed men. We have to deal with the ones we're going to bump with.

  [The command sender must be in the tunnels. The one we used to breach into here. That's their only way out, I'd say] Kayden's voice followed by sudden electrical sparks. Napalingon naman ako sa second floor ng main functioning hall nitong factory

  "I'll go to south tunnel then." I said, informing. Bigla akong napayuko nang may magpaputok sa direksyon ko. I ducked and hid beside a white laboratory cabinet, I think.

  Itinaas ko ang hawak na baril saka pinaputukan ang pinanggalingan ng bala. The range was too far, I wasn't able to shoot him. And so, he ran towards my direction. Informing his comrades, nakita kong dumarami ang bilang ng mga tumatakbo papunta sa direksyon ko. Oh, fucking great.

  [I'll be on East tunnel na] Emerald's voice.

  Pumusisyon ako sa lamesa. I loaded both of my hand guns and aimed for the troops coming after me. I couldn't waste any bullet. Three, two, one. Voila! Three bullets, three men down. Yumuko ako ulit nang magpaputok na naman sila sa direksyon ko. I rolled to hide behind another table. Cabinets aren't bulletproofs, you know.

  I had my knees on floor to position myself to another fire against them. Pero bigla akong napaupo nang magkaroon ng malakas na impact ang biglaang pagsabog sa kinaroroonan ng mga tumatakbo papunta sa 'kin. What was that? Don't tell me my guns are delayed bombs.

  [Avoid stepping onto the red dots on the floor, girls. Those are step-on bombs. Will detonate if pressed] Kayden's warning. [I'll follow you down there. Just gonna fish this planting]

  Oh. So, that's why there were a lot of explosions around. Probably the same thing na naapakan ng mga 'yon. Using the bombs' explosion as my cover from the other men who would probably go after me as well, I regained my momentum in running and was able to ride onto the elevator without having to deal with nuisance.

  I sighed in relief when the elevator started moving down where the tunnel is. That was hilarious and at the same time, exciting. How I miss having my blood pumping through my veins. I looked at my wrist watch and realized we only have half an hour left. Kung hindi namin ma-ca-cancel ang command sa loob ng kalahating oras, the structures that have been set on it would be probably burn to the ground by explosions.

  [Futur--South and West, where are you na?] I heard Emerald asking.

  [Already at the west side of the tunnel. The one we used to get in] Kayden. The one under the codename West.

  "Going down." I replied. Huminga ako ng malalim saka kinasa ang dalawang handgun na hawak ko, fixing myself for another battle waiting beneath. I don't think that command sender would go by himself. He would surely have muscled companions.

  [I'm here na] Her response.

  [Got it! I got the device now!] Raven's cheerful announcement followed. [The command was sent to the satellite through a freaking laptop! Discovered its IP Address and such. I'm currently tracking it down. Just a minute] We heard him type something. [And damn, it's in the tunnel. With me]

  [Wait, what?] Kayden, sounded surprised and irritated. [You were in the tunnel all along? While we had our lives on the line?]

  "Yeah, that wasn't your assigned block." Dagdag ko.

  [Diba sa plano po, nasa hall ka din? To make sure na everything's security is alright?] Lastly, Emerald. I could imagine her pouting.

  [Alright, alright---]

  [I planted bombs in the tunnel as well. Mind to tell me your exact location?] Kayden.

  [Damn! I was there, okay?] Almost having a tantrums. [Talagang madali lang makita ako sa puwesto ko. Too much of nuisance so I went down here. Besides, I had CCTVs to check on you, guys]

  "Yeah, but that doesn't change the fact that you left your block." Monotone na sabi ko. Itinutok ko na ang dalawa kong handgun na sumunod sa pagbukas ng elevator. I'm finally in the tunnel.

  [And you didn't inform us pa po] Emerald.

  Inilibot ko ang tingin sa lugar. It wasn't just a single tunnel like the one we used to break into the factory. There were a lot of tunnels, crossing each other. Mixed with different ancient woods. Looks like an unfinished factory. The place was stinky and dark despite of dim light that the fading bulbs around give. I walked slowly, pointing my guns to every direction while checking for somebody's presence.

  [Let's chill out. And that isn't our problem. The laptop, it's moving. It's freaking moving] Raven.

  [Po?!] Emerald, surprised.

  [We must assume that the laptop is in the hands of the one who sent the command] Good deduction, Kayden.

  Ipinagpatuloy ko ang paglalakad nang nakatutok pa rin ang baril sa dinaraanan. Hinawakan ko ang earpiece device at pinindot ang button para sa mas malakas na mouthpiece. "Track all of us, Raven. Check our distances from that moving shit."

  [Ah, yeah, I'm on it]

  Napabaling ako sa aking likuran kung saan ako bumaba kasabay ng pagtutok ng hawak kong baril doon nang marinig ang pagbagsak ng kung ano. My brows furrowed upon seeing the huge quadrate steel on the ground, technically blocking the elevator's entrance. Tiningala ko ang ceiling kung saan ito nakakakabit kanina. There wasn't any inappropriate damage. Seems like the steel fell according to security keys.

  Napalingon naman ako sa kanan ko nang magkaroon ng panibagong pagbagsak. Another huge quadrate steel fallen on the ground, blocking another exit. Not a minute after, I shifted my gun point on the other side upon hearing the same sound. And as expected, the same thing happened. Why? There shouldn't be a malfunction in this place. It is managed by computers and the whole security of the factory is currently on Raven's hands. Or so I thought.

  [DAMN!] Raven's frustrated yell were alarming considering my current situation. [Someone else has his hands onto the security. It's not just me anymore]

  [I was locked down] Kayden informing his status.

  "Fallen quadrate steels blocking three exits?" Tanong ko habang patuloy na naglalakad at iniikot ang tingin sa madilim na paligid.

  [Yeppy-yeps. Me too. At nawalan na din po ako ng kuryente] Emerald's update.

  As if on cue, lahat ng ilaw na nasa paligid ko ay isa-isang namatay. Mula sa kinatatayuan ko hanggang sa pwede kong matanaw. I couldn't see anything which made me turn more, scanning the darker area. I waited a few more seconds until my eyes got used to new darkness.

  [I assume the laptop we're looking for was the one used to lock us down here] Kayden's deduction.

  ["The command sender"] Emerald and I in unison.

  [They're here with us] Then I heard Raven crack his gun. [And how lucky can we be? Our target is on the center of our field]

  [What do you mean ba, North?] Tanong ni Emerald.

  [Imagine the tunnel to be a cross. South is in the South. East in the East. West in the West. And I in the North. We are technically surrounding our target. And it seems like they weren't aware of it]

  I smirked. "We should all go ahead, then. Plan Virbitre. You too, North. Leave your gadgets for a while. We have a prey right under our nose."

  [One more thing---] Bago pa matapos ni Raven ang sasabihin niya ay biglang nagsira ang signal. A few seconds and the line ended. Damn, even our earpiece devices were manipulated!

  Tinanggal ko na ang earpiece device sa tenga ko at itinapon ito sa kung saan. I wasted no time and ran to the direction according to Raven's last update. The only direction left unblocked. The three probably did the same thing.

  'Now, let's see who's this little clever command sender.'
